How are you? Having a nice weekend? At least I hope! Today's blog is in honor of underrated people that really need more recognition! They are very important in kpop, often present, but we tend to forget them.

:star2: Backup Dancers :star2:

I have actually no idea how to call them but anyway! The dancers are very present in kpop most of the time in smaller groups. They're here to complete the idol's performance, sub unit or soloist. Without them the performances would often seem empty but we still forget about them because we focus on the idol. Which is not bad of course! Let's just still remind ourselves of how important dancers are!

Why I want to talk about this is because today I was watching Exo-CBX' V live and three of their dancers were there, I was really happy cause I admire them a lot (plus they are really handsome) but then they were reading comments and some fan told them to get out. This must have hurt the three of them so much cause then the moved away after jocking a bit and Chen Baek and Xiumin finished the live. I felt so sad cause I really like to see them and they are really funny! They deserve better! So that's the reason of today's blog!

Dancers come from various background, but one thing is sure they are very talented. I'm quite informed about SM entertainment and Exo so yeah I'll focus my analysis on them, I hope you don't mind ^^ So for Exo-CBX they have 6 dancers, one also was a dancer for Super Junior and SHINee, an other one taught them "Dancing King" Choreography, and there is also Kasper. Kasper is quite famous as a dancer, he has an instagram (actually if you want their insta ask me ^^) and he's a dancer in 1Million dance studio. I've started a "Find Kasper" game cause each time I watch a video of Exo with dancers I try to find him :joy: All three of them are very active with Exo and SM and they help them a lot. So yeah basically the dancers are most of the time profesionals and are behind the scenes of the dances

When do they appear then? Well in most case when a group hasn't many members ~5 or less, if there is many members in a group then dancers aren't needed (Twice, Exo, etc...) so dancers fill the stage in some ways and like this more complicated choreography can be achieved. Generally it's becomes a more interesting perofrmance in my opinion (BigBang, Sistar, T-ara)

The second case is sub unit, CBX for example like I mentioned before, the choreography of "Hey Mama" is then more impressive because they are 9 on stage.

The last case is Soloist, even Taemin, sort of the dancing god in the kpop industry, still has backup dancers because otherwise the performance can be felt like something is missing (not in sayonara hitori case) Hyuna also has backup dancers. Actually almost everytime a soloist will have dancers (Taeyeon, Luna, Ailee, Jun.K, IU, Lay, Fei, etc...) Dancers are very present in the kpop world and they really help to bring something more to the performance.

◊Behind the Choreos◊

We often forget that even if the choreographies of kpop groups are amazing in most time (not Seventeen's case) they didn't choreographe them themselves, there are choreographers, professional dancers behind. They create these amazing dances and then teach them to the groups which have to work hard of course to achieve them cause they are really complicated often. Let's still be grateful to these choreographers for these incredible performance and congratulate the idols for managing to perform them

I want to just give a little mention to this studio because some of their dancers are behind all these choreos and they train the idols. Kasper is with Exo, Yoojung was in Lay's MV, Lia Kim has been training Twice since they were trainee and she also choreographed "Very, very, very" from IOI. This studio is full of talent. Yoojung and Hyojin Choi have been on Hit the stage with FeelDog and Hoya! So yeah their talent is more and more recognised and I advice you to go check out their channel cause seriously it gave me the envy to really learn how to dance, they are just so impressive!

Dancers are soooo important in kpop! Without them it wouldn't be the same! They give the stage a certain energy and they always give their all! Let's give them more recognition cause yeah they deserve it! I admire them so much! They are all full of talents!
