How To Get Disc Out Of Ps4 Without Screwdriver
You know how annoyed you get when you put a quarter into the vending or washing machine and it gets stuck? There's a quiet rage that boils inside you. Now, imagine that quarter is a sixty dollar video game, and it's stuck inside your brand new, four hundred dollar PlayStation 4 system.
There will probably never be a video gaming console that doesn't eat a disc every now and then, at least until they get rid of they optical drive altogether. Until then, expect your hungry PS4 to gorge itself on your precious DVDs, Blu-rays, and game discs.
Most of the people currently getting stuck discs are those who try to upgrade the select PS3 titles to PS4 versions, or who just see if they can play their PS3 games period. Well, there were plenty of ways to eject a stuck disc in the PS3, and there's already a few ways to do it on the PS4.
Method One: The Easy No-Take-Apart Way
This first method is going to be the first one you want to try, since it does not involve taking apart your PlayStation 4.
- Turn off your PS4 by holding the power button until the system shuts off completely.
- Unplug all of the cords that are connected to your PS4 from the system directly.
- Place the PS4 vertically. The disc usually gets stuck when the console is horizontally resting. Placing it vertically may help dislodge it.
- Wait about 30 minutes.
- Reconnect all of the cords.
- Boot into safe mode by holding the power button for 7 to 8 seconds.
- Cross your fingers. That's really it. The disc should hopefully eject now.
Method Two: The Take-Apart Way
This method will require you take take apart your PS4, and comes straight from Sony themselves, so it's doubtful it will void your warranty. Unlike the difficult procedures for the PS3, it's fairly easy.
Step 1: Remove the Shiny Cover
Use your hands to remove the shiny part of the PS4 cover. It should come off rather easily.
Step 2: Find the Screw
There is a small black screw located in-between the vents. You will see two sections of tightly packed slots and on single slot somewhat separated. This is where the screw is located.
Step 3: Rotate Counter-Clockwise
Use a Phillips screwdriver and rotate the screw counter-clockwise. This shouldn't require very much pressure and you should see the stuck disc slowly come out of its slot after a few twists.
Step 4: Put It Back Together
Pull the disc out and and then retighten the screw. Place the cover back on, plug in all the cords, and get ready to enjoy your PS4... again.

Last Resort Options
If one of the methods above worked for you, make sure you're running the latest version of the PlayStation software before putting another disc in. If neither worked for you, you may have to send it in to Sony for repairs, or contact PlayStation Support for more information.
