How to Measure Your Ring Size With a Stencil

A ring size stencil simplifies measurements. The stencil is a thin sheet of plastic, cardboard or paper that has holes of different sizes. Each hole is marked with the appropriate number.

First, find the type of stencil to print out online that suits your style. There are a number of printable stencils online that are easy to use in finding the right size for the applicable ring finger. If you have the ring, simply place the ring on the spot where the paper has the appropriate size and, voila, you have your size. If you don't have the ring, take a piece of string or paper and wrap it around the finger that needs to be sized. Mark the spot where the paper meets, then lay the string or paper on the stencil to get an estimate.

How to Find the Correct Size Without a Ring

You will have to resort to a few little tricks. The measurement method using a string or dental floss is popular. Find some string that is at least the length of a palm. Tie it around the root of the selected finger and make a knot around it. The string should be as close as the ring will be. Not too loose, but not too tight either. The knotted loop must also be able to be pushed over the joints of the finger. Cut the loop close to the knot and use a ruler to measure the length of the loop in millimeters.
